Hi.  My name is Kathy Horeth and I am the Director of Singing Solo.  I started singing when I was about 5 years old and haven't stopped since.  My father was a professional musician, so music was a great part of my life growing up.  I started taking voice lessons when I was 12 years old in Las Vegas, Nevada.  We moved to San Diego, California when I was 13 and I continued my lessons here.  I also learned how to play guitar and worked on my piano.  I remember asking my teacher in San Diego if she could suggest anywhere I could sing in public.  She said she didn't know.   I really wanted to sing in public!  But it was so hard to find someone to help me find places to sing.  Hence, my idea of Singing Solo was born.  Our first performance was in a living room.  Then we moved to a front yard...a rest home...then a festival and we were hooked.  From there we moved on to performing at street fairs, shopping malls, amusement parks and all sorts of venues!  I have been teaching Singing Solo for over 12 years now and I find so much enjoyment in watching my young students grow and develop their performing abilities!  Talk about a job I love!  I hope you'll take some time to check out our website and leave us a note in guestbook.  Or if you're interested in joining - leave me an email message and I'll get back to you!
Benefits of Singing
My format is especially helpful in dealing with students who need a boost of self confidence. My teaching is gentle and non-critical. Being a young person these days is very difficult and Singing Solo offers young people the opportunity to build their self-esteem and find themselves through their singing.
Tuition
Tuition is $100 per month.  Tuition includes 1/2 hour of private instruction, plus monthly performances in and around San Diego County.

FACTOID
"Singing seems to be both mentally and physically healthy; research suggests that it can increase immune function and decrease the need of visits to the doctor. Why? It seems to produce endorphins and the feel-good hormone dopamine."
